Network connection

Our RmCU/MiDASS devices offer several connection and communication options to meet a variety of on-site requirements. Each device comes standard with an Ethernet port (RJ45) for wired network connection. In addition, the devices can be equipped with an integrated mobile communications modem that works in parallel with the Ethernet port, enabling reliable data communication via the mobile network.

IP - connection

The system offers versatile connection and network functions to enable seamless integration into existing IT and OT environments. Connection is possible via LAN, WAN, DSL-Router or an integrated cellular modem.

Network functions

  • Two local IP addresses for integration into company networks
  • A second network interface allows for the separation of IT and OT networks with an additional local IP address
  • DHCP client and DNS support
  • Integrated DHCP server for easy connection of controllers with DHCP clients

Mobile radio functions

  • Continuous monitoring of the carrier
  • Support for SIM cards with variable or fixed IP addresses
  • Using SIM cards without a return channel has certain limitations – but is completely unrestricted when connected via OpenVPN.
  • Easy integration into existing VPNs or CDAs

IT/IOT

The RmCU has the option of using a second network interface via RJ45, offering two Ethernet ports instead of the cellular modem. Thanks to the integrated firewall, our data loggers and multiprotocol gateways can be used in both IT and OT environments. This enables a physical separation between the production or metering network and the internal IT network. The clear separation of the two networks by the firewall allows for the implementation of advanced network concepts that ensure both data security and network stability.
